Luv This Track : Jeff Lang - ‘Til They Cut Me Down

Jeff Lang is someone I've listened to lightly, haven't delved too much into his music. One of those things, ya see.

But today, as I listened to this song, I realized it's one of my favorite, bluesy tracks, and deserves some show. And reminds me to get some more Lang, baby.

I discovered Jeff Lang through JBT, as Jeff Lang is someone John Butler looks up to, and decidedly worth checking out. He's quite a hit in Australia, and this track is from his album "You Have To Dig Deep to Bury Daddy (2005)". He plays a lot of slide guitar, and blues. Always tasty.

Enjoy it.

MP3 Spotlight : A Light So Dim - The Black Heart Procession

The Black Heart Procession is a band that I found during my exploration of Pandora Radio awhile back.

A Light So Dim is a dredging (in a good way), dark song that gives me the creeps. And I love it.

While this track is a little dated, check out some of their newer stuff on their website and MySpace.

MP3 Spotlight : Atlas - Battles

Sometimes when I find new music, I marvel at the amazingness that it is, and rejoice.

Other times I wonder why I didn't know about it before, and get annoyed with anyone who walked by me and didn't say, "Hey, Jen, buy this CD! You need it, like you need showers and shelter."

In this case, the latter is true.

Holy crapola. How in love am I with Atlas? So in love. You need to be in love too.

As I have no idea who Battles is, I did a little research. According to Wikipedia, they are a 'math rock' band (something I will explore further later) and Mirrored, the album this song is featured on, is going to be released on the 14th of May. Yay.

MP3 Spotlight : Earth Intruders - Bjork

I have a little secret. I've never really listened to Bjork before now.

I know, I know. What was I missing out. I'll be working on filling the Bjork-void in my life at a later date. Cinco De Mayo is tonight, and I have a long night ahead of me, filled with crying, being in the weeds, spilling beer everywhere, and serving fajitas. And hopefully a lot of money.

This mp3 spotlight post was going to be on the track "Innocence", from the new album, but then I realized that I liked Earth Intruders better. So here you have it.

I love it. I love the beat to the song, makes me want to wiggle all over and shake my booty at top speed. I'm also appreciating the unique way Bjork sings. Reminds me of Johnny Cash, sort of, how in some parts she doesn't really sing, she sort of…talks.

Anyways, enjoy. Buy the CD. Seriously. Well worth it. Especially if you're a Bjork virgin like myself.

MP3 Spotlight : Haale - Floating Down

I got my hands on a promo CD by a psychedelic rock artist, Haale. I wouldn't call my self a wild fan; the music style is something I appreciate, but Haale doesn't do it too well. Have a listen anyway, see what you think. My opinion is not always everyone's, of course.

MP3 Spotlight: Little Lover’s So Polite - Silversun Pickups

Carnavas

Sometimes I don't really like a song until I hear it in the context of an album.  Other times I can't get into an album until I isolate a single track to give attention to.  The latter is the case with Silversun Pickups.  My girlfriend [who is fantastic] picked up their album having heard the single "Lazy Eye" on one of the five best rock radio stations in the country.  I was excited for new material to listen to but failed to really crack the album.  Almost at random I picked this track for the E-Box and it really started to grow on me.  It's nothing earth-shattering, but it's a good listen.  Give it one.

Note: They also played at Coachella this year.
