Meho Plaza // Mmmmm…

My theory of this morning–music blogs are like recipe blogs. I’m spreading the disease of delicious. I imagine that our addiction to music is like a foodie’s addiction to food, except we may have better cholesterol? I know I do, I don’t consume any cholesterol. Alright, lets not get me started on the metaphors of music blogging. Wait, one more. Jen = queen of everything. YES!!

To the point, to the point. I have orgasm songs. Recently some of my orgasm songs include The Sweet Serenades “Coming Closer” and The Lovely Sparrows “Department of Forseeable Outcomes”. Repeat. Again. Again. Please. My next orgasm song–Meho Plaza’s “I Sold My Organs”. Goodness, how deliciously wriggly and fun to squirm unintelligibly to. And, for your auditory pleasure, they have the whole album up via streams at mehoplaza.muxtape.com.

I couldn’t tell you much more about them except that they are seemingly from L.A., and they’re 3 bits–a girl, and 2 guys. With a sprinkle of awesome. Check it!

Elika - Trying Got Us Nowhere // Newness

Elika is a two-bit group from Brooklyn. By two-bit, I literally mean two-bit. Two people. Seems The White Stripes have started something.

They’ve got a new album out called ‘Trying Got Us Nowhere’. It’s got 7 trancey-ass tracks, vocals that remind me strongly of Madonna, lots of keyboards and electronica-like drums. I particularly like ‘To The End’ and ‘The Whip’ on the album. While it’s not a super-duper great album, I think for a debut it’s pretty promising. Give ‘em a spin.

We’re not the only ones // Rademacher

Sometimes I get to feeling that Rademacher is my pet project, and it’s nice to see that other folk, like the fine folk at I Guess I’m Floating, are carrying the banner, too. And have been doing it longer, actually. I only heard of them last summer and IGIF & 3Hive have been doing this for a couple of years now. They’re freaking rad, though, and they’re played the freaking Viper Room last night. They’re still mostly playing around Fresno, but you owe it to yourself to buy Stunts so you can be singing along when they come to your town, k? Also, because I like you, I’m supplying a track from their Heart Machine EP, it’s the one most indicative of the sound of the Stunts full length.

Coming Closer - The Sweet Serenades // Song I Wish I Was Sleeping With

I’m not entirely sure how I ended up hearing this song. I think it was one of those random chaotic-perfect moments when something awesome ended up in my inbox, made the long journey onto my XHD and then into my iTunes library under ‘Solicited Music’.

Although I’d like to perform all kinds of Kama-Sutra-like acts on this song, I can’t. Let’s not wear it out, anyways, before it gets to your ears. I want it to be good for you, too, baby. ;)

So, The Sweet Serenades? Newsflash? Not only is this song rocking my panties off, the other tracks I got my mitts on are pretty awesome. Do yourselves a favor and visit each link listed below. Really. They’ve got one album out, they’re from Sweden, and unfortunately not touring anytime soon.

Newness : The Kooks ‘Tick of Time’

I had a conversation with a friend last night about The Kooks that went like this:

Me: You should check out The Kooks. They’re happy music. Boppity.

J: Um, I think you should pronounce them KOOKS (ooooks)

Me: I don’t think so. I don’t want to call them that. I call them The Kooks (Like cook)

J: Ok

Me: Besides, that reminds me of a slur. I just can’t remember which one.

Me: (Thinking)

Me: Oh yeah! Spooks! Isn’t that a slur?

R (J’s boyfriend): …Uh, yeah, for black people. Then there’s hooks, too, which is for Asians.

Me: Oh. See, thats why I call them The Kooks, because it doesn’t rhyme with SPOOKS AND HOOKS!

THE END.

Anyways, all racial slurs aside, and no, I don’t use racial slurs, I just though pronunciation was interesting, the Kooks got some new stuff out that I stole off the internet courtesy Stereogum. Yup, I’m a stealer (or a thief), but so are we all and you know you’re just gonna jack it from me, too. I donna mind.

So here’s Tick of Time and Always Where I Need To Be (Live). Spin it.

Oh, and if you need more Kookin’, check out the song Ooh La from their previous album, Inside In Inside Out. It’s hawt.
